Wednesday, and Thursday

Wednesday has been cool. The situation is now back to normal, and the state of emergency has been lifted.

Gonna be back at Sit*l tomorrow. Doing my 20 calls per hour for M*c again. With the headset in one ear, and the earpiece in another, 6 hours is going to pass through quickly, I hope.

It's Comms tomorrow, and science UT. Blood, tubes, pressure. WTF. Gonna do my best to maintain the grades.

I feel sick.

I need a friend.

I need to know what's heppening to me at the moment.

I think I'm losing it.

In class the other day, I shared Steinberg's Triangle Theory of Love. Thought it was something interesting to share. Wonder where I am right now, according to Steinberg.

I'm a little jaded by a series of events lately. But I guess, times like this, you gotta go with the flow. Let things be, and let life take you for a ride a little. I might just enjoy this.

Anyway, it's not all pink and rosy for me. I'm sick, got the fever. I can't sleep well, as I get up with shortness of breath. Sleep is interupted, and it's affecting my performance in school.

Went over to Sit*l to sign my contract today. That's fun, =S

Sleep was the first thing I did. I missed Su's call, and a slurry of others, which I can't be bothered to reply.

I guess I need some lovin' right now.

Yaay!

It's official. Su's starting her work proper as a nurse in SGH. Less time with her then. This is so gonna suck.

My best friend won't have as much time as she did for fringe activities in the past. But nevermind, you know what they say, absense makes the heart grow fonder.. =)

Well, I just submitted my roster to Sit*l. It's planned for Friday night and Saturday Night clubbing. Woohoo!

Well if I haven't got the time to meet Su after work and after school, why not meet her at the club? Hahaa.. Dastardly, I know. *wide grin*

Sit*l Beckons

Thinking of re-signing my contract at SIT*L. Another 6 months of parttime work. This is just an interim, at least until I get better breaks. Really counting on you, Sebas and xSenifer. *chuckles*

It would be nice to be back, I guess. Heard there are many changes to the way things are done. So, I'm gonna thread with caution. With some friends still hanging around, I do hope I can re-learn the ropes quickly.

Mum was away over the weekend, and I reigned SUPREME! Hahaa.. I made a mess of the kitchen cabinet and threw in a tornado into the cutlery just for fun. *LOL*

School's started, This is so gonna be a long long semester.

I'm Back~

Bangkok was FUN FUN FUN~!

We did most of the things we set out to do, and we got them all neatly arranged in a little photo album. Yea, Bangkok was FUN!

We took the tuktuk, some modifies scooter, commandeered by a pirate, out to do nothing but rip you off. We took the BTS, and MRT, the train system in Bangkok. It sure beats the traffic, the searing heat, and the need to bargain with those dastardly pirates mentioned above. We took the public boats, which too us fairly quickly down the Chao Phraya. If we could read Thai, we'd probably take the public bus too.

We shopped. Yes, we did. Went to Chatuchak for some bargain hunting. Went to Pratunam for MORE bargains, and went to MBK Centre to bargain in a nice cosy air-conditioned environment.

To all my friends keen on going to Bangkok, or wherever, for a holiday. Do your homework; and trust it.

Why?

Homework has told us to bargain. And we were incessantly bargaining. We bargained for everything. Some were tough, while others were easy, but on a whole, bargain like crazy. BUT, a word of caution: If you think you've bargained enough, and managed to shave off about 30%-40% of the original price, try again, just for the kicks. And when you've bargained hard, and long, and desperate, always bear in mind that the seller always win. Simply, they won't make the sale if they don't make a profit.

When you have bargained happily, do not, I repeat DO NOT go around other shops looking for the same thing. You might just find it going at half the price you bought it for, and that's before barganing. This nice tube top (which looks horrible on Me, but vavavoom on Su) cost us 350 Baht (about S$11) from Suan Lum market at Silom after some hard bargaining from 480 THB. The exact same thing, would have cost us, a whooping 120 THB (about S$5) at Chatuchak. WTF! We didn't even have to ask. The price was written nicely on cardboard.

All in all, we spent aout S$ 250.00 there, the both of us for 3 nights (or about 6000THB). We bought aplenty, really. I got myself 9 T-shirts (about 100 THB apiece), and we bout about 15 in total. Su got a hat and TWO caps (about 200 THB a piece), and a nice little kitty basket for Brownie at 140 THB (about S$ 6). Food was cheap and good. We spent about 100 THB (S$4.50) per person per meal, there abouts. If you want some high class food, then it's about 200 THB per person, and you can get 'cheaper' food for 50THB per person.

When you buy t-shirts, buy them at Pratunam. That's where the city supplies are, so it's cheap there too. You can get lots of variety, and sizes for about 100 - 120 THB a piece. However, if you're wearing an M or L size (I wear XL, and Su wears M), then you might want to check out MBK instead. MBK sells them at about 99THB a piece, but again, they only have sizes in M or L and do not even carry the XL or XXL range. If you head to Chatuhak to get them, it's around the same price for M and L -sized users. However, my XL and XXL -sized brothers and sisters may have to pay a premium of up to 60 THB (about $3) to have them in your size.

Where the price is listed, it's very hard to knock down some more, unless you're buying more than one piece, then the shopkeeper would shave off about 10-20 THB (up to S$1) off the listed price.

Remember, a bargain is only given, when you ask for it. And don't start bargaining unless you really want it. If it's still not low enough, walk away, and you might just get it. (not for Tuktuks though)

Again, getting around is a killer. Anything that doesn't move on the tarmac, is faster than anything that does. The perennial jams in Bangkok will probably take you as fast on a tuk tuk or cab, as you would to walk. So try something different if you can.

The biggest ordeal in Bangkok, for tourists, is definitely the ripping off. Because you're a tourist, you just have to pay more. It pays if you look like a local, and can at least speak the language a little, at least by saying the name of the road of your hotel in the local tongue. (Pet-buri soi ten, how mutz?) Don't bother sepaking to the tuktuk drivers in Queen's English, cos they'll never understand you. (I no English, not I KNOW English). *LOL*

So that's that. Bangkok. I truly enjoyed it. I was busier shopping around this time around, so much so, I was in the hotel room every afternoon taking a nap. The afternon heat is a killer between 10 am and 3pm. Keep yourself sufficiently hydrated. Drink bottled water if in doubt. It is cheap and easily available from the 7-11 that's all over the place. A standard 500ml of mineral water would cost you only 8THB (around S$ 0.30) at the most, but the same bottle can cost double at restaurants.

Oh yes, get a map. I got a Groovy map, and I treated it like a bible around Bangkok. It's easy to use and costs SGD 10 from Borders or Times. I also got a simple guide book, which helped in my visits to the temples. Should you be going to Bangkok anytime soon and you wish to borrow them, just drop me an email.

Brownie

After 3 weeks, and much deliberation, Su's taken the big step to want to let Brownie go.

I don't have the exact details of the cat. Here goes.

Name: Brownie
Sex : Male
Age : About 5 weeks. Yes, it's still adorable.
Colour : Grey, black and white tabby
Species : Local Singapore Cat. (not a Singapura)

It's starting to wean off milk, and it's starting to feed on solid foods. It's to young to be toilet trained, but I guess with frequest squirting, it knows where NOT to pee.

Active, Lovable and definitly playful. It get's attached to the owner very quickly. Can get a little annoying at times, but which pet doesn't. It's fuzzy fur, and big brown eyes would make you fall in love with it.

The average lifespan of a household cat is about 15 years, so be prepared for some long term commitment. At the moment, Brownie has yet to be immunised and neutered.

So do take a moment to think about adopting it, especially if you're a cat lover and wouldn't mind another cat in the household. Su's starting her work soon and she won't have enough time to care for this stray which she picked it up, barely able to walk.

If you have the patience, love and respect for animals, especially cats, and wish to adopt this litte thing, do contact me. Otherwise, it might be sent to the professionals who may end up sending it to the big cat cage in the sky.

A Day at the Beach

A day at the beach with the zany (I mean, nice) people of the class can be summarised in 3 words. Fun getting Sunburnt. =)

It was fun. But details are a bit fuzzy.

In gist, here's what happened.

Justin and SM arrived REALLY early. Around 9.20 when we were supposed to meet at ten. You guys left me speechless.

I was on the way with Dino, and like many times, I arrived fashionably late at 1020, which wasn't too bad. But I felt bad, cos everyone was already there, except for CLIO who arrived in more glitz and glamour than I was. (1045)

So.. while waiting, Dino found out that his beloved guitar, broke one of it's strings. I swear, if not for the MRT police, he would have probably tore down the MRT station. Men in blue, keeping the peace. =)

So off we went to Sentosa, via the Sentosa Express, as it is called. Tickets are based on a tap and go system, but it became a tap, curse, tap again then go system for many of us.

Arrived at the beach close to noon. And my, my were the skies cloudless. The Sun was bore its fullest fury on our backs as we tried to play beach soccer on hot sand. We lasted al of 20 minutes before we hit the water.

We thought we saw Steven, but it was actually a coconut floating in the sea. Sorry man!

Tuck got stung. Sebas got his nipples twisted, SM got a prety bad rash. But we all had fun, we all got tanned, and xSenifer was the darkest of them all.

We left at four, a little early I thoughtm but heck, we were hungry, tired and thirsty.

So that was that. I separated from the main bunch after lunch.

That's when it got REALLY exciting.
