WePayYouCrapToTreatYouLikeDirt

"A woman only needs to have 4 animals in her life, a jaguar in the garage, a mink in the closet, a tiger in bed and a jackass to pay for it all..." - Hazel, WhoLivesNearYou

Well, a guy only needs one animal.

It's amazing how irritating some Singaporeans can be. If you take a read at yesterday's newspaper reports, about the behaviour of some court observers, who insist to NOT obey the court conventions and make messed up barbarians of themselves. So much for the Singapore Kindness Movement. Ben has surely voiced his thoughts well.

Well, there's more. Some of us have worked part-time before, in one time or another, have served the public for a short period of time. Have you noticed how demanding some customers can be. They believe that the people behind the counters serving them are robots. Also, they believe that for the $5.95 that they pay for an Extra Value Meal, they have the right to be treated like kings and queens.

But sometimes I don't blame customers at all for acting like kings and queens.

Well, I'll let you guys into a trade secret. Did you know that the average part-time counter staff at the Golden Arches get paid about $2.70 per hour? In comparison, the guys at KFC get $3.10, BK: 3.50 Delifrance: $4.00, Swenson's: $4.50, Coffee Bean: $6.00. But hey, why am I complaining? The last time I was working in Customer Relations, I was drawing $900+ per month, inclusive of perks. Perhaps small in comparison because I could sit down all day, and answer to phone calls from whimsy housewives.

So one day, down at west Coast, i decided to play spoilt brat. I decided to play the role of the rich customer who thinks that he's always right, and that the guys behind the counter are born to serve me. *evil grin*

So I asked for Mocha and Vanilla Frappe from the nice people at the McCafe (some half-baked Golden Arches spinoff in a bid to be more HIP.). I got a number, and the young intelligent-looking girl told me that my drinks will be sent to me. I insisted to wait, but she said that she'll send it to me..

Inexperienced Counter Girl (ICG) : That'll be $XX.xx. Will you be paying cash?

Smartass Bad Customer Wannabe (Me) : (waves cash at her) Yes, definitely.

ICG : Any cakes to go along?

Me : No, thank you. Oh yes, no whip please.

ICG : Huh? Oh, ok ok.. (nods vigourously)

She then hands me the change and passes me a number stand.

ICG : Have a seat, sir. I will send your drinks to you shortly.

Me : Will it take long? I'd rather wait. It's ok for me to wait.

ICG : We're a little busy now, we'll send the drink to you shortly.

Me : Alright, you said so. I'll be sitting right outside.

So I went to sit outside, and a few minutes passed. We saw our drinks over at the drinks collection point. Remembering that the ICG wanted to send my drink, I just ignored it.

After 15 minutes of an agonising wait, I decided to go in, together with the number stand, looking like a complete idiot who had been wrongly called to have won a lucky draw.

ICG 2 : Yes, sir? Can I help you?

Me: Oh yes. Earlier one of your staff member s gave me his, and asked me to have a seat. It's been 15 minutes and I have yet to have my drink served.

ICG 2 : What was your order, Sir?

Me : A Vanila and a Mocha Frappe. No Whip.

ICG 2 : Huh?

Some Other behind-the-counter Guy (SOBCG) : Oh yes. (Reaches to the sink and hands me the 2 drinks which I saw earlier.) Here are your drinks, Sir.

Me : Are they fresh?

SOBCG : Yes they are. I just blended them.

Me : Okay, if you say so. I'll be complaining if it isn't.

So I took the drinks back to my seat. Being an ice-blended drink, anyone who has ordered an ice-blended knows whan it's fresh. It doesn't have 3 distinct layers, within the same drink. And by layers, I don't mean i) Drink, ii) Slush mixture, and; iii) Whip Cream. What I had was 3 layers: i) Cold coffee, ii) slush, and; iii) ice. Do bear in mind that I had No whip cream with my drink.

I was furious. Su was fuming ( I still Love her. Nothing's wrong Sya, and Sab. All's OK.) . And we made faces about the drink. I was all ready to let all hell break lose, but I kept my calm.

I was about to storm into the McCafe and make a fool of myself, for the second time, until one of the more senior staff came up to me.

Senior Experienced Staff (SES) : Sir, is your drink ok?

Me : (What are you, Stupid? Of course it's not okay.) I think it's okay. But I think it's fresh too. Can I be sure that it's fresh?

SES : Sure sir. I will blend you another drink.

Me : Thanks. Please do. Remember, no cream.

And I got my drink a mere 5 minutes later.

So much for service from the largest chain of fast-food restaurants around the world, that serves 250,000 burgers in the US daily.

So sometimes it's not the Customers who are difficult. It's the people behind the counter who try to make their own lives and working experience difficult. If food was served well, and services was delivered in order, I doubt there would even be a need for customer dissatisfaction in the first place.

Too often, many establishments are at the mercy of their own success. in trying to sell an extra cup of coffee, or to sell and extra copy of a magazine to someone who doesn'y need it, they seem to put all common sense into the locker where they put their bags in.

To the guys and girls behind the counter, we no longer expect the best in service. The best in service is by default, along with high quality food, especially so when all your food starts to taste like army food. What we expect fro mteh people behind the coutner, is a dedication, and a passion, to serve the customer well.

We are afterall paying your $2.70-an-hour salary, aren't we?

The Golden Arches will only remain golden, for as long as customers continue to the consume fatty and unhealthy food that it serves. And after that, it will be another restaurant which serves crap food, and poor service.

Su, thanks for the wonderful Saturday.

Who the Hell am I Trying to Lie to?

Fine.

Roadbump.

Loneliness setting in.

After-effect of spending too much time with each other,

I guess.

Upside down, and inside out.

I'm just another stranger in this concrete jungle.

Just another face in the train.

Just another blogger, like everyone else.

Just another Pucker face.

We Shall Not be Moved.

But We Shall Move the Unmovable.

Is Adi to nice and caring?

Should he have a sordid Iron fist?

But Adi can't change if he doesn't want to.

Bah...

I hate the Happy tune.

But it cheers me up, at least.

Lies, the nuanced truth.

I'm still hanging around if you've finally found some use for me again.

Silent Wishes

Thanks to the Guys at Cadbury, UK

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we've been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldn't it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn't be a single thing we couldn't do
We could be married
And then we'd be happy
Wouldn't it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn't it be nice

Good night my baby
Sleep tight my baby

A Long Weekend Indeed

Procrastination isn't at all good.

Procrastination is, hands down, our favorite form of self-sabotage. - Alyce Cornyn-Selby

Yup. Procrastination has gotten the better of me, and that probably explains why I have not been updating my blog, and at the same time, what I am doing up at this ungodly hour munching on Oreos dipped in milk.

The weekend was particularly long. But somehow or other, I missed BayBeats. Met Nadiah on Saturday night, and she said that the gig was happening, and the whole City Hall area was jam packed with policemen, and school children.

Had dinner with Su though. She was down for her NDP duty, and got off early. So we had dinner at Far East. It's amazing what balloons and strangers can do to little kids. My evil girlfriend made a little boy in a stroller almost cry. tsk... tsk...

And yes Su, I let you win in that last game of pool, failing which, I would have won 5 straight games. Yes, a rematch soon.

Sunday was prett uneventful too. Perhaps it was because I lost half of it due to sleep. Even I couldn't believe that I got up at 12.45pm. By then, half of the day was already gone.

It didn't help that I had to help design the publicity posters. So by the time I started it, it was nearly 3 in the afternoon. Well, I took two hours to bathe, eat and get a haircut.

Yup, so I managed to squeeze in one design in the afternoon, before I had to assist soem people shift some cupboards out of my house to there house. Why would you need my help anyway? Why would you want the cupboards anyway? Here's what I managed to squeeze in in the afternoon, before I left.

That was that.

After all the back-breaking shifting, I went out with Su for dinner at Central. The usual stuff. Nothing different.

I got back at midnight, and I managed to complete 2 more before I stopped. Got some Comments from Vidayu and Charlie on them. Thanks.

In between, I got Su pissed. Got her to help to help. But because I did not give her any specifics, I ended up getting her pissed of. I'm sorry darling.

So as for now, she's not picking up my calls. Then again, I deserved it.

It's ok. Tomorrow will be another better day.

A Bright and Early Saturday Morning

I just realised that I haven't been updating my blog for the past week. Probably because I've been caught up in work and school.

Yes, school has started for me. So every Tuesdays and Thursdays I won't be online to early in the night. Last Tuesday and Thursday, I got home after midnight, only to have to go to work the next day. Gosh. I wish I could take my leave more liberally.

Everything else is in place. I'm falling. Falling more and more in love with Su with every passing day. Don't ask why. Reasons are just to simple for anyone to understand.

I'm deeply caught up into one of Dan Brown's masterpieces again; Angels & Demons this time. The whole puzzle of Ambigrams, iambic pentagrams, hidden trails, secret clues, coupled with a renown Religious Symbologist from Harvard, and one of the Senior researchers from CERN, this magical thriller is indeed a run-around that messes up your head real good.

Here's the much talked about ambigram in 'Angels & Demons' that started the book flying on a high note.

illuminati-news.com/ moriah.htm

So go read the book. I promise you a captivating read better than Harry Potter itself.

On top of that, YM is having it's volunteer sustenance programme. "Feed the volunteers and they wil come for our programmes." Something like that. But definitely this has far better aims.

I'll be out of the house soon, to go enjoy the bright and refreshing Saturday morning sunshine.

Take care everyone.

No jaywalking Su. I'm wearing Black. I love you anyway.

My Song

It has been a pretty uneventful Sunday. A Blue Sunday ahead of a gloomy Monday. Been boring so far. Now listening to Perfect 10.

I was in the shower just now, and I saw two pertinent rash marks in areas where I don't need to mention.. Thank you Su. I could've died of internal bleeding or something.

Saturday was indeed quite interesting, spontaneous and healthy. Yup. Without thinking much, we went low-fat all day. Well, as much as we tried to. But the most sinful thing we had was 100% fat-free real Italian Gelato ice-cream from Olio® Bites at Suntec. One thing about Gelato that intrigues me is that it's so sinfully good, but it's not sweet. It's perfect for diabetics, and those who have a craving to satisfy. Think 5 scoops of delicious gelato with chocolate sauce, semi-sweet chocolate chips, some tropical fruit, and Oreo® cookies on the side. Yummm-mmy. Truly sinful.

Having desserts with Su is becoming interestingly something to look forward to. It's something special which I've seldom, or almost would never expect from the others. AND, not only that dessert is a mandatory part of the day, anything purely chocolate is also almost always out. Chocolate Chip, or Choco-mint is still very much okay. But not chocolate per-se.

Chocolates are healthy. Nutritionists have grounded claims that chocolates have anti-oxidants that can prevent cancer. But of coursem so much of nice Milk or White chocolates can cause an increase in blood sugar levels, so give semi-sweet and bitter-sweet chocolates a try. They taste as good, and have much less sugar contents.

Yes, I was in the shower again this morning and I realised some lyrical ways to get the press, especially here in Singapore to your blog. Based on some newspaper reports, there will not be any exciting, and controversial nude pics of myself (I'm sure you guys would not want to see that either), nor will there be any detailed description of my romps with H (or any letter of the alphabet for that matter.) There I wil also not rave on about wanting to break any dumb bond with the Singapore Government after they send me overseas (if they finally decide to send a mediocre student overseas, that is).

What it will contain are just some keywords, which I know Mr Brown uses to search for interesting and controversial blogs from Technorati. The key words are:
  1. Singapore
  2. Nude
  3. Sex
  4. Sentosa Bubble Baths with Gays
  5. Government
  6. unfounded, biased
  7. public speaking
  8. chewing gum
  9. MRT
  10. Esplanade

So Mr Brown, put up my URL in your editorial okay? Thanks. Eternal thanks if you do.

Also, I was at Suntec's Skygarden yesterday, and I brought Su there to amaze her with how symmetrically beaituful the place is. And I was just sharing with her some of the dumb and romantic things that go on in there. We were there, chatting for a couple of hours. Before we left, she remarked on something extremely thought provoking.

She said that the place is encouraging people to make out, and to be passionate about their partners. She then directed my attention to the benches among the bushes, the tracks, and the flight of steps at the end that serve almost no purpose. She was right. The benches were just the right height for some fellatio. The width was just right for some kamasutra too. Yeah, I had to agree with her.

So that was that.

I've had a wonderful Saturday evening, Su. Thanks.

Dear God, Give me the answers I seek. Give me the strength to continue loving and caring, in this world full of hatred, and discontentment.

Dear God, give me the ability to be the best that I can be, for my family and friends.

Dear God, please ensure her safety, and the safety of those she loves, and those who love her.

Dear God, don't take away this gift of patience, and faith which you have bestowed upon me, as it helps me keeps my sanity in times like this. Don't take away the love that I have for the people I care for.

Dear God, beyond everything I ask for help to make sure that the people I care for remain as happy as can be, even though you need to shroud me in misery.

Leaving you all alone,
Was never an option.
