One for the Road
The DaVinci Code was a good movie. But the book was better.
Go catch it. The fact that it's a 3-hour movie makes it worth your money.
I'm not looking forward to Scary Movie 4, The Benchwarmers or X-Men III though.
I love you Su. Thanks for the wonderful afternoon.

Geppetto and the Judicial System
How can you tell them apart?
One turns makes puppets look human, and the other makes humans look like puppets.
A slight peek into the judicial system does uncover a lot of dehumanisation, where people are refer to as case numbers, and criminals are referred to as serial numbers. Where are the humans in upholding fairness? Where are the people manning Justice? Have they too, become digits, that quickly engulf everything and everyone?
The holding cells have got better, I guess, but the situation has not improved. The only thing that differentiate the people in these cells from cows in the pens is a bell. The tag that labels you, is still there, tied around your ankle of your front left leg.
I'm not saying that these cows should be put in air-conditioned cells, with a revolving feeding tray, I believe that these cows should not be 'digitised' or 'dehumanised'.
While I understand that they are afterall, the 'accused', there's still no need to remove them from their best qualities. Rightfully, they're still humans, with feelings, with thought, and definitely with logic. Thus, they too, should be treated with respect.
If all was even, there is no such man as a Judge. As Shakespear has mentioned, "Forbear to judge, for we are sinners all. " For we are all humans, we are in no position to judge others based on deeds and misdeeds. Humans are not impartial, no matter how hard they try to be. Which is why, God is our only true savior.
I love you, Su. Let's spend the next 3 days together.

Space. Everyone Needs it.
Space (sp
s) n.
Sufficient freedom from external pressure to develop or explore one's needs, interests, and individuality:“The need for personal space inevitably asserts itself” (Maggie Scarf)
I'm a person. I need my space, and so do the people around me. I respect that.
People have died, and will continue to die due to the lack of breathing space. People need their space to grow, and to mature. There are times when I feel like I've been pushed to the limit of space, that's when I have little, or no space to move around.
There are also times when I unknowingly push people to the edge of their spaces. Often, this creates a strain on the relationship. It's not really a dialectical force (a relationship that continues do to the opposing forces of 2 individuals) but more of conflicts between individuals, if left unchecked, can spiral out of control.
Exploring this thought, it is quite easy to push people to the limit by controlling them. At least that's how I get cornered. I have a control freak in my life who wants things done her way, and by not doing so, would make her upset. Usually I just ignore it, and do things my way. Most of the time, I'm able to make up excuses along the way, to justify my actions. For that, I love bureaucracy.
Yes, bureaucracy is also about control. The higher the bureaucracy, the greater the span of control. That's what Weber thought me. That's what the civil service has done to me.
But I'm hurt. People have told me to buzz off before, but not in the way that I got it today. That's me pushing my weight around. That's me taking hold of people, and getting things done to my best interests. That's me doing a Stalin.
Well, everyone needs space, and I'm very much confortable sharing mine with the people close to me, and those who want to know more about me.
I am nobody without the people who love me, and care for me. I am somebody even if only someone out there loves me.
Su, you're somebody, someone special to me. And I feel like a somebody cos I know you love me, and you care for me. My whole world can topple at my feet, but all is not lost while you are still around.
I love you, Su.

Ministry of Sound
So that's where I was last night.
Got there almost at midnight, and waited for people till about 1230, cos the parking was horrible.
Atiqah didn't come in till about 1.30, and that was when the dancefloor was jam packed.
It's a HUGE place, and the drinks are reasonably expensive. I mean, let's face it, the premium lies in the fact that it's a bloody drink from the Ministry. Which Ministry doesn't collect taxes?
Smoove was HOT! Crowd was ugly, and it was fuller than a Fullhouse. There was no space to dance, what more gyrate. There was some space to move and jiggle. But boy did Su have a good time. Yes, it pays to be 5 feet tall.
The 5-letter action word for the night was 'G-R-I-N-D.' Boy was I one happy and lucky bugger. Guys outnumbered the ladies last night at almost 8 to 1. I was one of the few lucky dudes who actually had a girl to dance with all night long, and did not have to 'share' her with others..
But if a girl came without guys, it means that they want to have a good time. Simple equation: Guy sees girl dancing alone, and he immediately thinks that she shouldn't be, and starts to dance with her. So he just bumps in, and starts of with a GRIND. And the girls responds with a grind, and close dancing. Simple enough.
And I thought that they REALLY want to have a good time. I'm already thinking back what happened those time I let her go. But it was the past.
Well, house music IS boring, and R&B is better. That too explains why Smoove is fuller than full and there is still space in the main arena to fit a bus. Perhaps next time I'll go down to Momo or Butter Factory, where the main fare is Hip Hop.
Thanks to the few people who have came down, and have tried to make me have a good time. I did have some things which I wanted to, but did not get to do last night, and a double grind was one of them. I won't say what the others are, cos I'm superstitious about it. It won't come true if you tell people about it. Thanks anyway.
Thanks MoS.
I hope you're better Polaris. It'll be nice to know that you're back.
Su, sometimes our past returns to haunt us. And there are times that the people we know do things that infuriate us. I've learnt to let go, and move on. And because of you, I'm able to do the impossible. I love you.

Doing my Homework

Ministry of Sound or The Butter Factory.
I'm spoilt for choice.
One is famous for it's International clubbing scene and it's multi-themed atmosphere and music, while the other presents itself as a new 'Urban' Club, with hip-hop, R&B and urban grooves.
Where should I go.
Entry for both is S$25 ($20 for the ladies) and entry is 21 (18 for the ladies). It seems that the Butter Factory has a lot of 1-for-1 drinks, so that'll mean some sort of a saving, and the crowd seems quite funky, made up mostly of foreigners, but I may be wrong.
MoS on the other hand, is said to be more 'exclusive' (read:pricey) and has been a popular joint since it opened last year. The New Year Party was grooving and swinging all night long, but the queue was abominably long.
I'll have fun.
I think given that MoS is spinning trance and house on the main arena, I think I'll settle for The Butter Factory tonight.
See you guys there.
I'll be dancing with wolves and nurses tonight! Woohoo~!
I'll tell you all about it when I'm sober.
I love you, Su. See you tonight!
Hope to see you tonight, Ben. It's been a while....

It's Election Time!
It's Election time in Singapore and the cannons are firing away as the opposition parties tries to garner more support, and the ruling party is trying to defend it's landslide victories, which it has been enjoying since 1959.
Political rallies are springing up everywhere, on almost every open field, right there at the heartlands. I've heard that rallies are also allowed at the CBD, but I've yet to hear about them in the news. Possibly there might be something in the news tomorrow evening about some rally taking place during lunchtime at busy Raffles Place, or even at the UOB towers.
There's a lot of talk in the news lately about how the young people seem apathetic about the political state of Singapore. about how we don't really care who runs it. It could be run in white, red, pink, or even blue. the only thing that we care about is that it is run well, and that we get our needs met. Simply said, the next Government must continue to provide running water from our taps, a consistent supply of electricity, growth to the nation, employment, job security, a confotable cost of living, low crime rates, etc etc.. To me, that's what the current batch of young voters under 25 want. Other issues like lift upgrading, the provision of covered walkways from Point A to Point B, more childcare centres, more subsidies, and all is more to meet the demands of the post-60's baby boomers.
My wishlist? It's a long one, and it'll be immature and naive to believe that the new Government will provide me with all of them. My wishlist is as follows:
- A riders' licence for all above 21.
- A drivers' licence for all males above 25
- Lower cost of Graduates' Education
- More wholesome quality of Basic Education, including a 'Hardship Traning' Module for lower secondary students
- Retain National Service
- Quarterly safety refresher course for all taxi drivers
- New police vehicles to maintain positive public image
- Other avenues of negative feedback, besides those in the daily newspapers.
- Except those with constructive ideas for negative feedback, letters will not be published on the dailies.
- Cheaper cost of healthcare, including childbirth
- Progress package distributed everytime the GDP grows by S$2.6b or more.
- No more Singapore Idol spinoffs ie: Campus Idol, Teen Idol, Turtle Idol, or Idle Idol.
- No more negative marketing of Singaporeans as full-time gluttons.
- No more KFC statues other than those in the vicinity of KFC.
- And most importantly, no more new promises in the next election in 5-7 years time until the promises for this election has been met.
The list is not exhaustive though. If I had another few hours to spare, I can surely make a list long enough to get you reading for the next few hours.
Thanks Mr G, since 1985, you've done well in ensuring peace and stability in the nation, and have assisted to promote growth to the region. When my turn comes, you can be assured that my vote goes to the better candidate. I am the best candidate for myself. While you can assist to make my dreams materialise, only my own efforts efforts can materialise it.
I love you, Su. I promise that when I set up my own domestic goverment, you can be the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister of Finance and Minister of Community Development, Youth and Sports. I'll do my bit to be the Minister for Trade and Industry, Minister for Foreign Affairs, on top of being the Prime Minister.
*LOL*
